If you have 3 or more leadership this could work for you. At the tavern where the officers are at. talk to one and say how much are you asking for. then say isn't that too much for you. he will agree and lower down his price.but if he doesn't don't worry keep trying. Also you could them give you money.

Go to any shop and ask to talk with them. An option will appear that asks the owner if he has any supplies that he needs delivered. If you do this with bigger ships you can get at least 30,000 dollars a trip. All you have to do is travel to another island of his choosing and deliver the goods to that islands store. I have 4 battleships and I have gotten up to 190,000 dollars for just one trip.
Easy Money: take two
While ferrying goods between islands is a good way to make a profit, there is another. It depends on your Commerce skill. When hiring an officer, simply talk to him and say that he's charging too much. No matter what he does (lowers his price or says he's worth it) refuse and once again tell him he's charging too much. Persistence pays off, even if it seems he won't lower any further, give it time and he will. You can lower them into the NEGATIVE numbers, and when you hire them they will pay YOU. I've pulled off 200,000 gold on one officer with this trick. NOTE: Your Commerce skill comes into play when they lower their prices, a formula would be CommerceSkill x 100 = lowering price. So if you have a Commerce skill of 1, they will lower it by 100, 2 is 200, 3 is 300, and so forth.
Pirates of the Caribbean
You can add more than one person onto your other 3 ships and all of their scores will stack with that ships captains scores.
There are two different ways to do this
1) On the Open Sea screen (where you can see all of your ships) get close to another of your ships and a swap cargo icon will appear. Go into the swap cargo menu and there is an option to switch captains. Under this option there is a screen that has 4 slots, one of them is the captain of that ship. Click on one of the other 3 and then assign passengers to each one. When you do this the DISAPPEAR from your passenger list. You will need to get more party members at the tavern if you want to fill up all your ships. DON'T sell the ship with the other 3 crewmembers still on it. You will lose anyone that is still on board.
2) The second way to do this is to capture a ship and do it when you assign a captain to the captured ship.
Easy money
Make sure you have a high commerce skill. Then go to the tavern and find an officer that's for hire. Ask him how much he costs and he will tell you a lower price. Then say that's still too much. Then talk to him again and ask him how much he costs. He will now say the second price he offered. Tell him it's too much and he will lower it again. Keep doing this until it goes into the negatives. Basically, he will be giving you money for you to hire him.

To get quick money First look at your trade book and find a island that has a certain item as a contraband and smuggle that item in by talking to the smuggler in the tavern and tell him u have some items to sell. (hint its easier if u buy the contraband item for an island exporting it to get it cheaper). now go to the place where the smuggler tells u to and sell it to him. now the way to get the money is u WANT to get caught. The guards will come up and talk to u. no matter what u say they will end up fighting u so tell him whatever then RUN! get back to your ship. now when u go to the ship in the bay there will be 2 or 3 ships waiting for u from that country. now these ships are always frigate which if captured will haul u in about 90,000 piece. there easy to capture because all the ships are badly unscrewed the most I have seen one have was 40 guys on the ship. So I take the ships and sell them. (the boat i used for this was a schooner.)

To get some easy experience points simply do the following. First, when you level up, make sure you make STORM NAVIGATOR (or something like that) one of the abilities you pick, as this will reduce storm damage by 40% Then go find a storm. When you enter the storm lower your sails so they take less damage. The longer you stay in the storm, the more experience points you get. Also, if you make EXPERIENCE SHARE one of your abilities, then all of your officers will get experience points as well.

If you have been having a problem with the muggers in the forests killing you, or taking you money. All you have to do is decrease your reputation to 'Horror of the High Seas'. Do this by either working for Santos as an assassin, or sinking a vessel you are escorting. Once your reputation is 'Horror of the High Seas', the muggers will still come up to you, but tell them that you will not surrender your gold. And then they will run away. Now if you want to still fight them, attack them while they are running away.

To quickly increase you reputation, go to any church and offer a donation. But you MUST offer 5000 gold in order for this to work. After you offer the donation, and you are finished talking to the priest, your reputation will go up one level. Now to decrease your reputation, go to the tavern and ask the tavern keeper if he has any jobs for you, he will tell you that someone asked for an escort. Offer to escort him to where ever he needs to go. Now, before you get to where ever you are going, go to the sea interface and fire on the ship that you are escorting. Once you sink it, you reputation will decrease

This isn't a cheat but more of a hint and all you do is say your sailing your ship on the map and all of a sudden three pirate ships start to chase you. you may think oh no i might be destroyed by pirates but if you see a pirate or any boat chasing you and the grappling hook sign hasn't shown up just hit a and go to the open sea and when you open the map again all the pirates will be gone.

This is far along the english governors quest. In the quest called 'get details from the governor' you will need to attack an english frigate protected by the fort in greenford. before you begin this mission turn god mode on (ayxxyybyxa) and then attack the frigate. after you have captured the frigate you can then start attacking the greenford fort, you will get 1000xp for each cannon destroyed and there are unlimited cannons to destroy. I racked up about 300,000xp in about an hour before I got bored. Its best to speed up the game and rotate side to side shooting from both sides of the ship with your sails up. one caveat is that all of your crew will be killed.

On the top of this page, you will see a cheat that allows you to get 100,000 gold. Keep doing that cheat until you have about 500,000. Then go to a church and talk to the priest. When you talk to him, tell him you want to make a donation and then select 5,000. If your reputation is neutral, it will take 2 or 3 donations to get yourself up to bloke. Then from bloke to matey, it will take 4 or 5 donations. If you keep doing this up until you get to hero, then everybody will deal with you.

Blood And Gold Caribbean Guide
I started out as an escaped slave (and I'll admit I was reload-whoring myself out of slavery a couple of times, I can't stand loosing everything :P). Old Warband was simple, you leave the utility for a few companions, while you focus on personal combat skills and charisma.
B&G on the other hand got tons more skill to level up. I feel as though I should try to replicate the old Warband formula mentioned above, but that I as a player need to focus on Fleet Command, which is Intelligence as well. Trading seems too lucrative to not take, but I think I can get away by letting a companion max Trade skill. My companions seem to level up very slowly though.
How should I skill up?
EDIT: EDIT2: I added my own commentary to the skills. I started as an escaped slave, now I'm level 11 and my own faction.
List of skills:
Blood And Gold Caribbean Cheats
Fleetmaster: Allows to control larger vessels without penalty. Fleetmaster, Naval Comabt and Seafaring are all very important as you can turn a nasty situation against a superior body of men around with a couple of cannon balls. John Kirk is one perhaps the best admiral companion you'll find.
Naval Combat: Increases the damage and reloading speed of the ship's cannons by 5% per point.
Seafaring: Increases speed and maneuverability of the ship in combat by 5% per point.
Gambling: Increases your chance to successfully cheat in cards by 9%% per point. Gambling I had 2 points into this skill, and I ended up in a bar fight 4 times. Seems fairly underwhelming.
Ironflesh: every level adds 2 extra hit points. Ironflesh still useful, but not as impactful due to how a single bullet can blow your head up.
Power Strike: increases melee damage by 8% per point. Power Strike is surprisingly useful for a gun centered game. Most battles happens in a scenario on fairly close range, on foot and reload times are pretty long.
Precise Shot: 3% per point to do critical damage with firearms. Precise Shot feels very unreliable and weak in early game. Later on you'll get some pretty powerful weapons very easily through trade, so the need isn't there. For the sake of novelty, I assume a couple of 'sniper' dedicated companion could take use of this skill well.
Navigation: Speeds up sailing on campaign map by 3% per point. Navigation This is pathfinding, which means it's pretty important to have a couple of points in early game. Should be translated over to a party skill later in the game.
Athletics: Improves the character’s running speed. Athletics You'll be spending most of your battles on foot, which means if you're a melee character, then you should probably tic a few points into this.
Weapon Master: Each point increases the proficiency limits by 40. Weapon Master A couple of points is good, no need to over-do it though. Proficiency of ranged weapons, if it's similar to warband, increases your ability to aim faster and do more damage.
Riding: Allows to ride better horses and increases your riding speed and maneuvering value. Riding Even as an escaped slave I started with a pack horse that I'm still using now as Dragoon type. This means, again, 'lancer' cavalry feel rather underwhelming.
Harquebusier: Reduces damage and accuracy penalties for shooting with firearms from horseback. Harquebusier A waste in my opinion. Most battles will be fought in areas that doesn't include horses. As long as you stand still, you won't suffer any penalty.
Looting: Increases the amount of loot collected after battles by 10% per point. Looting Very underwhelming in my opinion. Loot is only equipment, and doesn't include trading goods and food. Also, Juba companion has a decent amount of this anyway. Could be interesting in very early game if you're playing on Hard to get some income.
Trainer: At the end of the day each officer of the company gives some experience points to every other party member whose level is lower than his. Trainer An identical skill compared to Warband. Might seem superfluous by late game as by that time you have your own town with the option to a Trainer building and a Drillmaster companion.
Tracking: Allows to track down enemy armies including their numbers and direction. Chibchan handle Surgery, Herbalist, Pathfinding and Tracking. As soon as you get him, basic utility is handled. A couple of points into Surgery and Herbalist can be nice in the early game though, but Pathfinding and Tracking seems unnecessary due to how much time you'll be spending at sea.
Battery command: Allows to take more field cannons in the field. Battery command A fairly useful skill to have, because field cannons can do tons of damage in battle. Not needed early, because you won't get a hold of these guns until mid-late game. Patrick Gordon is my Battery Commander for the moment.
Path-finding: Speeds up land movement on campaign map by 3% per point.
Inventory Management: adds 6 extra slots to character’s Inventory, increases supply train capacity. Inventory Management is very underwhelming, I wouldn't spec a single point in it.
Herbalism: Party healing speed is increased by 20% (on the campaign map only).
Surgery: Each party member gets a 4% chance to survive a death blow and be critically wounded instead. Restores 5% of hit points lost in battle by all members of the party.
Engineer: Lowers the time of siege ladders construction, adds hull hit points and speeds up repair during naval battles. Engineer I've not tested sieges nor have I had the need to repair my ship at any point jet. Late game companion ability. I've put in on Patrick Gordon until I have a better solution. Engineer is a Party skill, but also a Personal skill if the character is a ship captain.
Persuasion: Increases chances of persuading another character in a dialogue. Persuasion I've done the quest that lets you become a faction leader and I've not needed it one time. Might become handy when you're persuading lords to join your faction, but definitely not an early game skill.
Prisoner Management: Increases the amount of prisoners the party can safely handle. Prisoner Management Very hit and miss skill to level up. consider that 98% of the weapons used in this game will end up killing your opponent, which means only the most creative battles will amount to at most a dozen slave. On the other hand, each slave can be sold in town for 300, while the plantations/mines give you a massive 600 piastres.
Leadership: +5 to maximum company size and -5% to wages. Increases morale. Leadership is very important later in the game. I own a town and I'm faction leader, but I'm not getting any more army space because of it, which means renown and leveling is the only way to increase the size. It's has no importance in early game, so don't stress it.
Trade: reduces trade penalty by 5%. Trade You're going to do a lot of trading, but can be set to a companion if you're starting out as an officer.
